“They’ve been doing this for so long and they’ve known each other for so long that it’s kind of magical to watch. I’m still wrapping my head around it,” says Ed Helms, who plays Rusty Griswold.
You kind of get caught up in their relationship.” “They’re both individually two of the coolest people I’ve ever met, but when we would yell ‘rolling’ and ‘action,’ we were then sitting in between Ellen and Clark Griswold,” Christina Applegate, who plays Debbie Griswold, remembers in a group interview. “There was a part of me early on that I think was nervous about becoming a Griswold.
It’s been 32 years since “National Lampoon’s Vacation” hit theaters, introducing the world to Clark (Chevy Chase) and Ellen Griswold (Beverly D’Angelo).
Now, for the first time since 1997’s “Vegas Vacation,” the on-screen couple are revisiting the famous roles in a film — and it turns out the chemistry was easy to rediscover.
And this relationship that I have with the public because of the Griswolds - what a gift.
Generation love it.'Beverly is proud of all of her outings as Ellen Griswald but her favorite is still the first film in which Ellen and Clark make a disastrous road trip with their kids from Chicago to Californian amusement park Walley World.
Oh, my husband's like Clark."'Beverly continued: 'Because not only is my friendship with Chevy Chase tried and true, and when I say tried, I mean tried.' 'We've gone through so many things together. It was a nightmare.' 'I was so mad at him when we were shooting the pilot.
V Club, Beverly said: 'It was kind of conceived as being a successful movie, but along the lines that Animal House was successful.''But this was mainstream and everybody was like, "I'm just like Ellen.Sometimes they’re not well, they’re sick and you’re taking temperatures.“When I come home from any outing whether it’s a movie or some festival stuff you come home and open the door and walk in and it’s not about you any more. And there’s a real relief about that.”And he’s keen to keep his worlds separate for a bit longer, telling Total Film: “My son is asking me, ‘What’s this Scarface? He speaks fondly of his daughter Julie, 25, from his relationship with acting coach Jan Tarrant and twins Anton and Olivia, 14, from a relationship with actress Beverly D’Angelo, pictured left.“I have a daughter who is a fi lmmaker now and my little ones are tremendous,” says Al.“Every day you come home and the kids are in my arms.As a mother of two 13-year-olds, it's a great role. It's fabulous to play a really selfish creature."And, as far as the costume choice was concerned, D'Angelo says she was happy to roll with the punches. I'm totally willing to show the flaws, whatever, because I'm good with it." Whether Alvin and Bonnie will be able to overcome this latest hurdle in their relationship remains to be seen, but D'Angelo hints that Lorraine will likely appear in future episodes as well."In the piece, she's an antagonist. If [viewers] don't like her, let's just hope they love to hate her."Check out a sneak peek from Thursday's episode below.
